The short version. There is no account and no sign-in. The calculators run entirely on your phone. The only feature that sends anything is Explain — and it sends only the figures already on your screen plus the question you typed, so it can be answered. Nothing is sold, and the figures you type are not saved anywhere — not on our servers, and not even on your phone.

What happens to what you type

Everything you type into the calculators — dates of birth, benefit amounts, account balances, income, filing status — stays on your device. In fact it is not saved anywhere at all, not even on the phone: the figures exist while the app is open and are gone when you close it. Nothing is uploaded, backed up to us, or shared.

The only things the app does keep on your device are your language setting, whether you have seen the intro, and a count of how many questions you have asked. Deleting the app removes them.

What the Explain feature sends

When, and only when, you use Explain, the app sends to our server:

the figures shown on the screen you are asking about, and the assumptions you chose (for example: an age, a benefit amount, a filing status, a balance, a conversion amount);
the question you typed, and the conversation so far in that session;
a random identifier generated on your device the first time the app runs.

Our server passes the request to Anthropic, which produces the answer, and streams it back to you. We do not log, store, or retain your questions, the answers, or the figures. Anthropic processes the request under its own privacy policy.

About that random identifier

It is a random value created on your device (UUID) and stored there. It is not a device identifier, an advertising identifier, or anything tied to you, your Apple Account, or your phone. Deleting and reinstalling the app produces a different one.

It exists for one reason: to count how many questions have been asked in a day, so the service is not overwhelmed. On our side it is stored only as a number against that identifier, and it is deleted automatically after 48 hours.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, which manages the receipt so your purchase is recognised on your devices. We never see your payment details. RevenueCat's handling is covered by its privacy policy.

What we do not do

No analytics, and no usage data sent anywhere. The app keeps a few counters on your device (such as how many questions you have asked) so it knows when a free allowance is used up; they are never transmitted.
No advertising, and no advertising SDKs.
No selling or sharing of data with anyone, for any purpose.
No email list. We have no way to contact you and do not want one.
No account, so nothing to be breached.

Children

This app is for adults planning for retirement. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
